| For the past few weeks we had the pleasure of having Courtney in our home. You can read more about this dear young lady on my sister's site. She spent most days at Alyssa's serving and helping her family, blessing their socks off!! (Although Courtney would agree that it's WAY too HOT to wear socks here in Texas!)
After longs days she would come back to our house and find ways to help and serve here without ever being asked. She really was amazing. The love of Christ was expressed to us through her! And she is a reflection of Christ and of her diligent, God-fearing parents. They definitely did something right and God gets the glory! I loved Courtney's honesty. I love how she talks about her family. I appreciated how she took interest in each and every child she spent time with, my sister's and mine! Twelve years ago, my sister and I spent a summer going to her house helping out her mom and family. And who knows, 12 years from now I could send my 19 year old daughter out to serve Courtney's family. It was a really neat real life example to my kids (especially Tiffany) for them to see someone come serve whole-heartedly like Courtney did. It's really neat how the Lord has allowed our families to stay "connected". I have so many memories of time with the Howell family in California. I looked up to Randy and Kathy, Courtney's parents, SO much. Kathy took interest in two teenagers and had many conversations with us and blessed us. And I loved the conversations Courtney and I had while she was here! We already miss you! In fact, Tiffany is sleeping in the office tonight where Courtney slept while she was here. Bryan cried last night realizing Courtney wouldn't be here for "track" tonight. And my kids didn't seen her all that much, but they knew she loved and cared for them.
I know Courtney didn't really like anything at all about Texas, but I love this picture of her in the TX cowgirl hat. It suits her well. I appreciated the California-ness she brought to us here. All except the perfect cooler weather! I guess we are going to have to make a trip out there eventually for that! And to see dear friends!
We miss you Courtney and know we will stay in touch via internet/phone and hopefully more visits in the future!
